Senior Practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at our recently  constructed 5 Net Practice Area, starting at 5.30 pm.

Practice begins again on Tuesday 6th January for Round 7 which is on Jan 10th & 17th.

New players are always welcome.

Unfortunately we have lost the services of two of our valuable senior players. Newcomer Jasdeep Singh has had to return to India due to a family bereavement and Kahl Emerson has moved to Victoria to work for a new printing organisation. He will be playing Sub District for Brighton. We wish them both well.

Jim Curtis has just become the Marion Cricket Club's  first Australian representative. Jim toured the U.K. with the Australian Over 60's team in August, where he topped the batting and bowling averages, but  a fortnight ago, he was chosen to play in the Inaugural Over 60's match against the England Over 60's representative team.

The Australian Over 60's team was captained by Geoff Dymock, who opened the bowling for Queensland and Australia in the 1980's.

Jim scored 12 out of Australia Over 60's total of 130 and took the only wicket in the England Over 60's innings of 1-131.

In the last two seasons, the club has put a structure in place that has given many of our young developing players the opportunity to gain experience in the higher grades. The club now looks forward to these players forming the nucleus of our senior teams and becoming leaders both on and off the field.

The growing depth of our playing personnel will increase competition for positions in our senior sides. This will keep all our players honest in their performances during training and game day which will lead to a highly motivated playing squad.

This season Marion Cricket Club aims to participate in finals in all levels throughout the club. This should be the expectation of all our players as the club celebrates its 40th anniversary in the ATCA.

The Cricket Committee has put in a lot of work over the off- season regarding the development of the new cricket facilities, which are now in place. The Committee members put in many hours of their own time to provide you the player with many benefits as a Marion Cricket Club player.

I ask you, the player, to support our committee in any social events which they may organise. Any benefits we get from social events come back directly to you, the player. So support them, as they are supporting you.

Let’s all work together as a team to make this the most successful and enjoyable season yet in our 40 year history as a member of the ATCA.

Two new Flicx wickets are in use in our new practice area. They are completely covered with grass and perform just like turf wickets.

Funding has been approved for new change rooms to be built on the northern end of the Marion Sports Club. This includes a viewing area on top of the change rooms. Construction is almost completed and the rooms will be finished in mid-January.

The Marion Cricket Club is using the Marion Oval on Friday evenings for the new In2 Cricket programme. In2 Cricket is a new format which has been introduced by Cricket Australia this season to replace the old Have-a-Go Cricket for 5-10 year olds. [More info]
